This morning started a little late for a couple of us, since 2 of us (who shall remain nameless) overslept and only had 5 minutes to get ready for the day. But things started looking up right away since we saw monkeys on the way to breakfast. AND there was actually chocolate inside the chocolate croissants this morning, unlike yesterday.
Then it was off to the orphanage for day 2. We started with scrubbing walls, cutting up onions and ironing all the kids school uniforms. Then we “rested” by playing with the babies until the preschoolers came back from school. Once they came back, everything started rockin’. They were crazy wild, so there was a little drama, but it was also very fun.
When the kids came back for lunch, we served them their food. We actually brought box lunches from our hotel today, so we would not be a burden to the orphanage, and we are not sure which was better. Needless to say, we hope dinner is good tonight. . .
Then we had an hour and a half to help the kiddos run off steam before they went back to school. It is a rainy day, so outside was not a good option, and Katie Sue and Kelly decided to chase the kids up and down the hallway; at least until Matron Elizabeth gave them a little scolding.
Somehow, a toy appeared (there really aren’t any), and so there were many tears as kids tried to take the pinwheel from one another. Poor James kept having people steal it from him.
Clearly this was all very exhausting; since someone (who shall remain nameless) fell promptly to sleep when the preschoolers went back to school. We’re sure she was just getting ready for our evening at Crossroads Fellowship tonight. We are leaving the orphanage shortly to head back to our hotel to freshen up for church. We’re hoping to make it through church cheerfully, so we can go back to our hotel for dinner (eventually). At least one of us should be able to stay awake . . . Since she already had a nap. . .

ReplyDeleteWow, you guys are having an amazing time - what happened when you tried to touch the monkey (I'm assuming that was Kelly because of the camera comment). We're really enjoying reading them but can't imagine how sad you must have been when the mom offered her baby to you- heartbreaking. Love & prayers, Mom & Dad Strack
