Part 1 Day 4
Today was New Life Feeding Center and School. We did similar things to yesterday, with different students, different teachers, and some of the same staff from yesterday. This morning Sue and Kelly got to make the lunch for 200, while Betsy and Katie Sue helped teach 5-6 year olds. Then we served lunch to the kids and ate lunch ourselves with some of the staff. Another delicious meal with “muchachee” and “chapati”. After lunch Sue and Kelly went to class and Betsy and Katie Sue helped clean up.
When we were picked up by Lisa, we stopped by a couple markets to do some shopping. We got to bargain a little (which Sue and Betsy would say is NOT their spiritual gift). One place we went was a shop where the items are sewed by disabled girls. It was neat to see them all working on their sewing projects, and nice to be able to support them a little bit. One of the more interesting moments in bargaining, was when Betsy was offered 100 cows for Katie Sue by a Masai tribesman; “Tukema“. The other Masai warriors all seemed very interested in whether or not we voted for Obama and why or why not.
Tomorrow is back to Tumaini Children’s Home. We can’t wait to see the kids!

  1. So, how does the chapati compare to what Liz made for everyone? At least here, all the Africans kind of rave about her chapati and Jonah, Garrett and Greta hope that she brings them every time!
Thanks for the updates! We will keep praying for you and energy to keep up with all those kids!
